Bigfoot VFD is the first state licensed First Responder Organization in Frio County.

Bigfoot VFD contracts with Frio County Emergency Service District No. 1

to provide fire suppression and rescue services in a 227 square mile service area.

Bigfoot VFD also contracts with the Frio County EMS service provider to

provide First Responder medical services in the same area.


Bigfoot VFD is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and does not bill anyone

for any services it provides.


Bigfoot VFD hosts a BBQ fundraiser each year in September.


Business meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 7PM.


Firefighters meet every Wednesday at 7PM for training.


Mission Support is a group of volunteers that support firefighters on calls as well

as other department activities including fundraising and community programs.


Community members are invited to participate at any level from attending

meetings, volunteering with Mission Support, or volunteering as a firefighter.
